Bachelor of Biologist from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 1998
MD from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 2004
Post-doctoral fellow in the AIDS Immunopathology Unit (Instituto de Salud Carlos III)
My work in the field of HIV1- AIDS study began after my PhD. in animal genetics, during which I bought mainly extensive training in molecular biology. In order to expand my training and convinced that I wanted to develop my career in the world of biomedical research , I contacted Dr. Pepe Alcami of AIDS Immunopathology Unit at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III to work in his laboratory and has been here that I have developed throughout my training and research activity to date.
The work I have developed in the immunopathology unit has allowed me to acquire knowledge in the fields of cell biology, virology and immunology, which I find fascinating and complex at once. I began my work in the study of CXCL12 as an endogenous inhibitor of X4-HIV-1 infection and its regulation. Later I focused my work on the study of restriction factors responsible for the blocking having some immune cells to infection with HIV-1 and the consequences this has for the subsequent progression of infection and development of AIDS.
